Types of apprenticeship units
You can choose between the following apprenticeship units:
- AI Leadership – AI Strategy and Opportunity
- AI Leadership – AI Adoption, Procurement and Governance
- AI Leadership – AI Delivery and Organisational Transformation
- Electric vehicle charging point installation and maintenance
- Electrical fitting and assembly
- Mechanical fitting and assembly
- Permanent modular building assembly
- Solar PV installation and maintenance
- Welding - mechanised
- Battery manufacturing
Apprenticeship units last between 30 and 140 hours. They can be done over one to 16 weeks.
Entry requirements for apprenticeship units
To start an apprenticeship unit, you’ll need to:
- be 19 or over
- live in England
- be working
You may not need any specific English or maths grades or qualifications to apply.
Qualification you’ll earn
You’ll earn a qualification from your apprenticeship unit.
The different apprenticeship unit qualifications levels are:
- level 2
- level 3
- level 5
You'll need to pass a skills test to complete your apprenticeship unit and show you gained the right skills.

Your employer can apply for your apprenticeship unit through their apprenticeship service account.
After your apprenticeship unit
When you’ve finished your apprenticeship unit, you could:
- do another apprenticeship unit at a higher level (if available)
- apply for a full apprenticeship
Apprenticeship units count as prior learning if you decide to do an apprenticeship. This means your apprenticeship will take less time to complete.
